Good to know
1 KB = 1,024 bytes. 1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes. Up to 32 MB, 16 million pixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Static JPG, PNG and WebP images only.
PNG is lossless. Some size limits need smaller dimensions or another format.
How to use this tool
- Choose a photo from your device.
- Keep the original format or explicitly select JPEG, WebP or PNG. JPEG replaces transparency with white.
- Choose By quality for a quick compression, or To a file size for a 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 1 MB or custom limit. Here 1 KB is 1,024 bytes and 1 MB is 1,048,576 bytes.
- Keep the original dimensions, or turn on Resize image. Choose a percentage preset, move the scale slider, or enter a width or height; proportions stay linked.
- Compare Original and Compressed in the upload area. The size cards show the actual files. Select Download image when you are happy with the result, or Cancel while processing.
- If the limit is not reached, increase it, resize further, or explicitly choose another format. Above-limit downloads are clearly labeled.

Frequently asked questions
Can I compress an image to exactly 50 KB?
50 KB means a maximum of 51,200 bytes here, not an exact padded size. JPEG and WebP try up to ten quality settings, down to 10%. Actual output bytes are checked. If the original already fits with the same format and dimensions, it is kept unchanged. A strict limit is not always possible; try resizing, a larger limit or another format.
How much smaller will my image get?
Savings depend on the image, format and quality setting. JPEG or WebP can make large photos smaller, but an already optimized image may get larger. Compare the displayed sizes before downloading.
Are my photos uploaded?
No, compression uses your browser's canvas encoder, entirely on your device.
Why does my PNG barely shrink?
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply. We never silently convert it. Enable resizing or explicitly select WebP to retain transparency with lossy compression. JPEG replaces transparency with white. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected to avoid silently losing frames.
What's the best format?
WebP usually gives the smallest files at the same quality and is supported by all modern browsers. JPEG is the safest for maximum compatibility.
