Image Metadata Remover

Drop up to 10 photos to see the metadata hiding inside — including GPS location — then strip it without touching pixels, and re-verify every export. Everything runs on your device.

YOUR IMAGES

Start with your images

Drop images here or browse files JPG · PNG · WebP · GIF (up to 10 files)

Detected metadata is shown before anything is removed, and every export is re-inspected afterward. Sensitive values never leave this page.

See it, then strip it.

Inspect first, remove second, verify third.

Uncheck to drop ICC profiles too. JFIF density and PNG color basics always stay.

What is removed, precisely

JPEG: EXIF (including GPS), IPTC/Photoshop blocks, XMP, comments and app segments except JFIF density, Adobe color info and — unless opted out — ICC profiles. PNG: text chunks, EXIF and XMP, with sRGB/gAMA/cHRM and — unless opted out — ICC kept. WebP: EXIF/XMP chunks (ICC kept unless opted out). GIF: comments and XMP extensions; animation is preserved.

Pixels are never recompressed, except when an EXIF orientation flag requires rotation: then the image is re-encoded once (JPEG at 95%) so it still looks right, and the report says so. GPS coordinates are always removed when present.

How to use this tool

  1. Drop JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF files (up to 10). Each file's readable metadata is shown before anything changes; keep color profiles checked unless you want ICC profiles dropped too.
  2. Select Remove metadata. GPS, EXIF, IPTC and similar blocks are dropped losslessly; pixels are never recompressed unless an EXIF orientation flag requires it, which the report discloses.
  3. Download files one by one, as a ZIP, or grab the removal report. Exports are re-inspected so you can confirm what remains.

Frequently asked questions

Does this remove GPS location from photos?

Yes. GPS coordinates live in the EXIF block, which is always dropped when present. The before/after inspection shows whether a file had location data.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Inspection and removal run entirely in your browser, and detected metadata is displayed locally only — it is never sent anywhere.

Will my images look different afterward?

Pixels are preserved without recompression. The only exception is a photo with an EXIF orientation flag: it is re-encoded once (JPEG at 95%) so it still displays upright, and the report says so. Colors stay accurate because color profiles are kept unless you opt out.

Is absolutely all metadata removed?

All EXIF/IPTC/XMP/comment metadata the tool understands is removed, and the export is re-inspected to confirm. Basic format data (JFIF density, PNG color basics) necessarily stays so the file remains a valid image — the report lists exactly what was removed and kept per file.
